Thermoluminiscence of UV irradiated CaAl2O4 Phosphors

CaAl2O4 sample was prepared by a high-temperature solid-state reaction route. Structural and Microstructural studies confirm that the material is stabilized in monoclinic phase with space group P21/c with cell dimensions: a = 8.71312, b = 8.07945, c = 15.21562 and  = 900, β = 90.090, Υ = 90.110 which gives close agreement with (JCPDF No- 23-1036). Dy3+ emits mainly at two peaks in the visible spectrum, may be originating from 4F9/2 → 6H15/2 (430-500nm) and 4F9/2 → 6H13/2 (550 -600nm) transition. From the PL and TL studies it is confirmed that Dy3+ doped CaAl2O4 is a good material for dosimetry applications. The emission centres are Dy3+ ions.
