Influence of Ligands and Solvent Effect on the 4f-4f Absorption Transitions

ABSTRACT

The practical interest in studying the effect of solvent and ligands on the 4f-4f absorption properties has been given to the oscillator strength and band shapes of the hypersensitive transitions because of their ability to probe the complex formation, coordination geometry, ligand structure, complex-solvent interaction and detection of number of metal ion. The 4f-4f electronic absorption spectra of large number of trivalent complexes of praseodymium, neodymium, holmium and erbium are highly investigated.
