Characterisation Study of Conjugated Polymer Polypyrrole Coated Cotton Fabric

ABSTRACT

A method to produce conducting Polypyrrole (PPy) coated cotton textile fabric substrate sample has been obtained from in-situ chemical polymerization. These textile fabrics are suitable for several applications from antistatic films to electromagnetic interference shielding devices. The properties of conducting polymer coated fabric were characterised by using FTIR spectroscopy and structural study of X ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD) and morphological characterisation of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results confirm polypyrrole coated cotton fabric as a promising material for EMF shielding application in low cost processing method
